Craft CMS major version upgrades

Still on Craft 4? Let’s get you upgraded.

Craft 5 is out, it’s stable, and it’s significantly better. But upgrading between major versions carries real risk if you don’t know what you’re doing, I do. I’ll handle it so you don’t have to worry.

What's Actually Involved in a Craft 5 Upgrade?

A major version upgrade is more than running a single command. A thorough upgrade involves auditing your current plugin set for Craft 5 compatibility, identifying and replacing plugins that haven’t been updated, testing the upgrade on a local copy before touching your live site, handling any custom field type or content model changes, updating custom modules and templates, and deploying to production with a rollback plan in place.

Skip any of those steps and you risk a broken live site, data loss, or silent content corruption that you might not catch for weeks.

Why Not Just Do It Myself?

I’ve handled this process dozens of times. I know which plugins break on upgrade, which content field types need special treatment, and how to keep your live site running throughout. The goal is zero surprises.

Seth’s support is always quick, clear and practical, and he genuinely takes the time to understand what we’re trying to achieve rather than treating it as just another development job.

We rely on him for ongoing website maintenance, and whenever something needs updating, fixing or improving, we know it will be handled quickly and properly.

What It Costs

Pricing depends on the complexity of your site, primarily the number of plugins, any custom modules, and the size of your content model. For most sites, a Craft 5 upgrade is a fixed-price project. Get in touch and I can usually give you a realistic ballpark within 24 hours.
